Casting Call!
"Beached"
Writer/director Julian Kerridge is casting his latest
film Beched (working title) in the
North West. Julian will be shooting the film in Blackpool
for one week commencing 5th May, both day shoots
and some night shoots.
The film is a fifteen minute 'coming of age' drama
about a 19 year old lad who struggles to deal with
the demands of an alcoholic mum, and a fledgling
relationship that he's trying to keep secret.
The main character, Daryl, is essentially 'passive'
and the film is about his journey to becoming 'active'.
Blackpool whirls around him but he remains apart from
it. He never gets his feet wet, literally and metaphorically.
It doesn't portray Blackpool as a good or a bad place,
but for Daryl it has become about juggling responsibilities
and not having fun, or making his own decisions.
We are casting the two lead characters;
DARYL 18 or 19 (white), quiet, introverted, but kind
and strong.
JULIET - (Black, Asian or mixed race) 16 or 17, quite
cocky, but fun & bright.
Julian is a graduating student from the
London Film School and will be shooting on
Super 16mm film. This will be Julian's sixth short
film as a director. Some of his other films can be
seen at Blip.TV
We can only pay expenses, but the actors would be
very well looked after, fed and kept warm etc.
The London Film School provide a one million pound
public liability insurance.
We intend to take the film to international film
festivals and use it as a springboard for our feature
film, so it's a really good opportunity for anybody
who is really keen to act, or has the right energy.
